The story takes place on the evening when Franco closes the border between Spain and Gibraltar in 1969. The main character spends it at home with her mother learning the family recipe of rosto instead of doing what she really wants but is not allowed to; protesting at the border with everyone else. The illustration draws a parallel between carving up rosto and Franco "carving up" Spain.
