The Long Now - public art commission
29-meter-long public artwork in a display window on Norra Hamngatan in Söderhamn. 2026. Mural and sculpture. A continuous landscape with forests, mountains, animals, people and symbols. A world to follow along the window and discover piece by piece. In the process, thoughts from children and young people about the forest and the future were also used as inspiration for details in the landscape.

The title The Long Now refers to the many timescales that can exist within a landscape: the ancient formations of the mountains, the slow growth of the forest, the shorter presence of humans and animals, and the rapidly shifting colors of the sky.

For the trees, I had a repeat pattern with around 1,000 trees, arranged in a half-drop pattern. In total, it came to about 25,000 trees across 29 meters.
