The Lost Sandal
“Linh falls asleep on the back of the motorbike. Her favourite sandal slipps off. Oh no! Will she ever find her dearest slipper again?” The Lost Sandal is a bilingual children’s book (VN-ENG), written by Geralda De Vos and illustrated in a Vietnamese context by me (Sofia). We launched the book in May 2021 with kids activities and an exhibition of the watercolour paintings at Soma Art Café in Ho chi Minh City.

To find her sandal, Linh makes a poster and puts it up at the village shop. The illustration is based on what a typical Vietnamese local village shop looks like.
Linh receives several letters in response after she put up the poster and in one of them she receives another sandal. Now she has one of each and is very happy.
Linh meets Gingerella that is travelling all around the country collection lost sandals that she carries around on her bike. The illustration to the right show my process of trying out skin colours on the character.
Linh meets Gingerella for the first time and she's asking her why she's wearing 2 different sandals. Read the book to learn why :-)
Linh and Gingerella peek into the large collection of sandals on Gingerella's bicycle.
